LOT 'O' DRY™ is the result of accurate work of passionate people operating in the Research & Development department of Tessutura Taiana Virgilio.
“ For several years we have driven our research on two parallel tracks.
The first one, most typical in our segment, deals with trends and fads, characterized by fastness, in search of new materials and the study of new experiences through color, non-color and chromatic combinations.
The second track of research is a slower process, more profound, aimed to interpret "the spirit of time" and to play with mainstream phenomena that affect the consumer and his ability to reconcile, and merge and surpass traditionally antithetical concepts: the new and the vintage, the sophisticated and the basic, the male and the female, the concrete with the ethereal. In this way, each season we try to propose a new concept or reinterpret a concept taken from another area.”Matteo Taiana

LOT 'O' DRY™ è il frutto dell'accurato lavoro di persone appassionate che operano nel reparto Ricerca e Sviluppo della Tessitura Taiana Virgilio.
“ Da alcuni anni facciamo viaggiare la nostra ricerca su due binari.
Il primo quello più tipico nel nostro segmento si occupa di assecondare trends e fads, è improntato alla velocità, alla ricerca di nuovi materiali e allo studio di nuove esperienze visive tramite il colore, il non colore e gli accostamento cromatici.
Il secondo binario di ricerca è un processo più lento, più profondo in cui, nel nostro piccolo, andiamo ad interpretare "lo spirito del tempo" e andiamo a giocare con fenomeni mainstream che riguardano il consumatore postmoderno quindi la capacità di conciliare, di fondere e di superare concetti tradizionalmente antitetici: il nuovo e il vintage, il sofisticato e il basico, il maschile e il femminile, il concreto con l'etereo. In questo modo ogni stagione cerchiamo di proporre un concetto nuovo o un concetto preso da altri ambiti e da noi reinterpretato.”Matteo Taiana

The fabric mimics the peculiarities of the lotus flower which has non-wetting and self-cleaning characteristics.

LOTUS EFFECT
“The Lotus effect refers to the very high water repellency "superhydrophobicity" exhibited by the leaves of the lotus flower. Dirt particles are picked up by water droplets due to a complex micro- and nanoscopic architecture of the surface which enables minimization of adhesion.”

“Il cosiddetto effetto loto, è la capacità, osservata appunto nei Fiori di loto, di un materiale di mantenersi pulito autonomamente. [...] Questo è possibile perché le foglie di loto sono rivestite da cristalli di una cera idrofobica di dimensioni nanometriche.”
